Real People, Real Service: How Moby Gave Back with Silvera for Seniors

At Moby, our slogan — Real People, Real Service — means more than just providing internet. It’s about being part of the community we serve. Moby started right here in Calgary, Alberta, over 10 years ago, and we’re proud to still call this city home. Most of our team lives and works in Calgary, with a few amazing colleagues in Edmonton, Kelowna, and Vancouver.
As Calgary’s only local internet provider, we’ve always believed that staying connected should be simple, affordable, and personal — no matter who you are or where you live. That commitment goes beyond Wi-Fi speeds and tech support. It’s about showing up for our community in meaningful ways.
Partnering with Silvera for Seniors
This fall, our team spent a morning volunteering with Silvera for Seniors, a local non-profit that’s been part of Calgary for more than 60 years. Silvera provides affordable housing and welcoming communities for older adults, helping them stay connected, independent, and supported.
With 36 communities and over 2,300 homes across the city, Silvera’s team of 350+ staff members make sure seniors have not only a safe place to live but also opportunities to thrive. Their focus on people, community, and connection lines up perfectly with what we believe in at Moby.
We’re also proud to be Silvera’s internet provider, helping residents and staff enjoy reliable, easy-to-use internet that keeps everyone connected to family, friends, and the world around them.
A Morning of Connection and Giving Back
In October, our Moby team headed to Chestnut Grove, one of Silvera’s independent living homes, to give their fences a fresh coat of paint. It might sound simple, but as Silvera’s coordinator shared that day — a comfortable home isn’t just about walls and windows. It’s about peace of mind.
That message really stuck with us. Research shows that quality housing contributes to better mental health, security, and connection. Getting to work side-by-side as a team, giving back to the people we serve, was the perfect way to give back. wrap up the season.

As Thanksgiving rolls around, we’re feeling especially grateful for our community and our partners like Silvera. Like Moby’s founder, Nick, once said: “Moby shouldn’t be changing lives.
